Happy Quilty 2009! Peanut is just too too adorable for words! Even if I don't win I hope I can at least get a pattern...
Aching backs are tricky but I have personally seen that acupuncture works for a lot of people! Find a good Chinese doctor who blends East with West...
PS I love your lemon-lime clock!

Nice giveaway!
The best remedy for anything (in my book) is snuggling under a homemade quilt!
Happy New Year
I can come and walk on your back....but wait...I may break your back...so an aching back is better than a broken one.

Like you I too suffer from an aching back. I take naprosen but when I run out I use my faithful electric hot pad. I actually keep it by my quilting chair. It is never out of sight.
Best thing is to go admire all your hard work accomplished. It will make you smile and somehow the back ache seems worthwhile. A glass of wine and nice massage doesn't hurt though.
Feel better soon. Happy New Year!
Hi and Happy New Year to ALL! Thanks for the chance to win-especially that adorable elephant! I also have back aches-usually take 3 ibuprofen and that helps alot. I also have Joint Ritis for immediate relief! Hugs Kay M. (petking@vcn.com)
Happy New Year!
A long soak and time with a heating pad might help an achy back.
A long hot bubble bath is my remedy. Thanks for the chance to win!
A visit to my chiropractor, followed by a massage is my cure for a sore back. I hope you're feeling better soon!

Happy New Year!
I got so excited seeing this post. I love elephants, how cute peanut is! I hope I win him, he would be a great addition to our home. Anyway, my husband's back was aching just the other day, and besides a good massage, it helps when I walk on his back. So, if you have a lil person around the house, maybe they can walk up and down your back, slowly and gently, or have someone knead your back with their elbows. Hope this helps like it does my dear hubby.
~Carlotta~
A good massage is wonderful for an aching back. It's even nicer if you get it from someone you love!!
Cure for an aching back...my favorite cure is to heat up my warmies (as I call them) and put them against my back as I sit and knit or read.
Warmies are squares of fabric filled with uncooked rice and lavender that can be heated in the microwave or cooled in the freezer.
I love that little elephant!!! Oh, I want to win that little elephant!!!
GREAT prizes!! I struggle with a bad back (probably because I lift my little ones too much) and manage to use our benefits to get regular massages - there's nothing better than a good massage! I also have a muscle cream that works for an achy day.
A heating pad and a good back rub from a loved one.
Great give away!
Count me in!
How about a "hot toddy" for your back? :)
Barbara
Hope you back is feeling better. If not, try and find a hot tub and sit in front on one of the jets!
I'd love to be entered into your contest! Happy New Year!
A warm and cosy quilt is the best for a hurting back...
lots of rest and a good massage.
Hope you feel better soon
Happy New Year
LOL...I like Peggy's advice! My advice is not original, but a couple advil, lots of rest, and maybe a heating pad to help an aching back. Love my Peanut!! :)
I think soaking in a hot tub reading your favorite quilting magazine would help. I love Peanut!!! I have a student in my class who is obsessed with elephants. Come check out my blog--I am participating also.

Nice prizes. My cure for the achey back is I wear magnetic therapy bracelets. We also have a back pack with magnets in. I have chronic pain from 2 car accidents. The other thing I do is go to the chiropractor, sometimes a lot.
The elephant is really cute.
Happy New Year! Love the elephant!
For your back and I'm no doctor...I'd sit in a nice warm bath with bubbles, lighted tea lights and if you consume, a small glass of wine! Good luck and hope you will feel better soon.

sewangelic@sbcglobal.net
I recommend a good chiropractor and a moist heat pack. Yout give-a-wat is soooo cute. NanaBarto@aol.com
I hate to say it but the best remedy for a sore back is ice! Advil and ice 3 times a day. I am currently having the same problem because of a little snow shoveling workout. The chiropractor broke my heart when he said no heat but that ice is good. Oh well, I'll use the heating pad at my feet while I'm freezing my back.
What a lovely giveaway!
I lived with bad back pain for 2 years and finally surgery did the trick for me but a heating pad was most helpful to get through the bad days.
Sue Cahill (sbonetsue at yahoo dot com)
I have to admit I've never suffered from back pain per say but a sore back from working too hard is easily fixed witha glass of wine, a good book, and a long soak in the tub!
Whiskey & a long nap

For a backache I usually lie on a moderately warm heating pad and try to sleep it off. A muscle relaxer is a big help too. That is an adorable little elephant you made.

Shawnee from Sassy Flirty Apron Swap and Shawnee's Tangled Tales

Oh! my aching back, I get a good rub down with biofreeze from DH. Your elephant is way too cute.
Oh, like Tina said -- Biofreeze is great stuff! But my absolute best treatment for an aching back would be a soak in a hot tub -- not bathtub here, but you know, an actual hot tub, with jets. Works for me every time! I adore Peanut (love the green!), the scarf, and Thimbleberries fabrics. Awesome stuff! Lydia
(thepoch [at] aol [dot] com)
Oh, I love the elephant! Very cute and the scarf looks so very soft. My husband has a terrible back, we were just talking about it. His advice is stretch, stretch, and more stretching. He puts his hands on the counter and arches his back backwards as far as he can. He does this every day and hasn't been down on his back for about a year now. He has developed callouses on the heels of his hands he does it so much. But I really believe it has kept him away from a surgery. Sorry so long...back pain is the worst. Karleen rtnkt@charter.net
Kritta22@hotmail.com
Our doctor says hot and cold...hot pad for 20 minutes...break...ice pack for 20 mintues. repeat every two hours.
Hi Robin, love to be in the draw for your giveaway. Sore back, some stretches in a warm shower.Regards Lyn
What a georgeous elephant.
I find when my back goes out the best thing is to keep walking and no (or very little sitting). I walk around and around the house and it seems to help.

What you need my dear girl is one of my special, put in the microwave, heating pads. They are so nice on back aches and any other aches. I love your elephant, he's so cute!
Happy New Year! Sorry to hear about your back. Maybe a nice hot bath, some time spent with a heating pad or some kind of muscle relaxant/painkiller would help. If that fails, go get a massage! Thanks for entering me in your giveaway.
Cute! Please enter my name. Thanks!
I'm like many others....the heating pad under me and a nice quilt on top of me. That usually does the trick, although, if it's really bad, I have to take some kind of backache pill before I snuggle with those two items I just mentioned. NICE prize package...please enter me in your drawing. AND...I hope you visited my blog for my giveaway, too.
Great giveaway! Thanks so much! :0)
For an aching back, I usually try a heating pad. Sometimes it helps, sometimes not.

An aching back is best dealt with by getting a good back rub. Love your little Peanut guy.
Happy New year! My cure is either a heating pad or pillows rolled up so they are harder and laying against them. I am also a big fan of lots and lots of stretching! I have back problems too so the stretching every day works for me!
My blog is http://mebeingcrafty.com and my email is tsoniki at gmail dot com
a massage or a nice uninterupted nap. I would love to win this, my email is codiandtim@gmail.com and my blog is deathbydenim.blogspot.com
I love your giveaway! What really helps me when I have a back ache: the chiropractor. I feel very very tired the first day, but the pain and sleepiness go away the next day. Perfect. Hope your back is fine by now!
I just went through the back ache thing yesterday...the only thing I found to help was the Walmart brand of analgesic cream spread on after a hot shower. It burns like heck, but in about an hour I was feeling so much better.
I love your give away prizes.
My remedy is a heating pad and a hot tea with aspirin.
Nice giveaways prices you have, would love to win.
My favorite treatment for back pain is a heating pad or (a home made bag filled with dried corn kernels that can be heated in microwave).
advil, heating pad, rest, and a good movie!
Robin, the little elephant is adorable. I've hurt my back a couple of times. Alternate ice packs with heat packs. The ice helps inflamation, the heat packs relax the muscles. Take an anti-inflamatory like Advil and do stretches. Lay on the floor and pull your knees to your chest one at a time while lifting your head. When standing keep your knees slightly bent to keep the pressure off the small of your back. Hope these things help though I don't know how you're going to keep up reading a kajillion messages. LOL Happy New Year!
I collect elephants, they are my favorite animal and this one is adorable!
Sorry to hear about your aching back, I am going to be moving soon myself and am not looking forward to the backache I know is heading my way :-( I usually use HEAT or Bengay to help relieve mine.
So sorry to hear about your back problems. I have plenty of that myself. My favorite remedy is to lay on the couch with a heating pad on my back. A hot shower or bath help too.
Thanks so much for your generous give-aways! Please add my name. Many thanks!
Hope you find some relief for your back!
Best cure... a chiropractor!!
Right now I'm flat on my back in bed because my back is totally messed up! I have an appt for 8:30 Monday morning and am practically counting the minutes. By noon, it will be like nothing was ever wrong!

You're tired and sore now, but when you're all settled in, it will *so* be worth it all. I hope you love your new home.

Back pain? For me, its Acupuncture... Works ever time. And I rarely have to go anymore... take it easy! Love the elephant!
My favourite remedy for an aching back? A stiff drink! I don't think it's the best; very temporary, and can often leave me with a headache as well!
Enjoy your giveaway - count me in!
Ltenhage@gmail.com
Oh my gosh!! Peanut is adorable!!!!
A back ache??? I have heard that weight training helps with a bad back...it sounds contrary, but I have heard it works wonders. For an instant fix I would get a back massage.
My cure for the aching back is... a hotpad. Sorry, it's not too exciting.
My cure for an aching back is a long massage and a warm hot pad!
sras7508 at gmail dot com
Well, mine is probably about the same as everyone else's but I like to fill a pillowcase with rice, microwave it and mush it around my back, behind me while I'm sitting in a recliner. That way the heat is trapped and really works into the muscle. :)
The best thing for an aching back is stretching. I once had such a bad back that I couldn't walk upright....literally. I saw a chiropractor for a while and it helped immensely. His best advice was to do stretches and adjustments. Thanks for the great give away and the opportunity to play.
What a fabulous giveaway. My husband swears by acupuncture for his bad back. It certainly seems to relieve the pain.
Hi Robin, You have a great blog here. Thanks for the opportunity to win your little elephant (so cute) & the thimbleberry fat Qtrs and lovely scarf.. I hope I win. Sorry about the backache, I also suffer back problems. Take a long hot bath or I use a back vibrator/Message with the heating element turned on to help.
Kim D.
Peanut is very cute and would be a delight to win. My suggestion for an aching back would be a nice hot shower with a massaging shower head.
Happy New Year.
heating pad
How cute! I love the elephant and all that goes with him.
As a person with perpetual back problems, I would recomment ice and heat. I also love the spinal shots I get because they give he huge relief, but hopefully, you won't have to go that far!
Thanks for entering me! ~ Julie
Very nice prize! Thank you for the opportunity to enter your draw.
For an aching back I would recommend a chiropractor.

As a retired airline employee, I have empathy for you and your pain. My MBT shoes have been the greatest relief to my back. I wear them from when I wake up until I go to bed. I then use a Relax the Back wedge pillow. Of the two, though, the shoes help most.
Thank you for taking part in the giveaway. Happy New Year!
This is a wonderful giveaway! I am brand new to the blogosphere (thanks for the link here from SewManySwaps!)
Back Pain - Ibuprofen or Aleve for the inflammation - does what ice does but without the mess or COLD!
For heat I use the little hand warmers that I buy for my boys to take camping. Stick one in your waistband and it goes with you all day. I keep some in my glove compartment to put in the small of my back on long drives. I also stick them under my bra strap when my shoulder aches.
Sit up straight. They were right! Firm chairs and good posture really ARE good for you! Hope you feel better soon!
Oh this is so cute and functional~!
I have had back pain for about 23 years now and I haven't found much that works except a good old fashioned back rub. 800ml of Ibuprofen help some.
I added a link on my blog list so others can find you easily.
Thanks for Sharing :)
I have an aching back too, and have switched from a chiropracter to a physical therapist. He taught me back exercises that really help, and my friend is the heating pad when I am really bad

Happy New Year, Robin!
My tip for an aching back is a backrub/massage, and sitting in a hot-tub with the jets pounding the achy spots.
I hope you find relief soon, ((hugs)).
jeri.mihm@sbcglobal.net
Wow! Peanut is adorable. I so feel for you and your back! Mine has been bothering me today, but not from painting, from sewing! Getting my quilt top done for my first class--nothing like waiting until the last minute to do it. Anywho, I usually take a couple of tramadol, and that cures it for a few hours! And then curl up with a good book and get under my electric blanket! Hope you get settled soon, and things calm down for you! Maybe you can teach me to knit again at retreat! Let me know what to bring! I used to love knitting too, but havent done it in so long!
(((((((((HUGS))))))))))
Back pain...sit in a comfy chair with your favourite hands sewing project, a hot cup of tea and put a warmed up buckwheat bag behind you (where the pain is the worst). A few tylenol may help if the pain is very bad. Oh and Peanut is soooooooooo cute....can I have him??? Claire

Happy New Year. I had a backache not long ago and would recommend a heating pad with therabeads (pop it in the microwave for 60 seconds..moist heat...feels fantastic!) Hope you are feeling better!
My remedy for an aching back is a good heating pad. That's what I asked my husband to get me for Christmas. I really couldn't think of anything else I needed. We moved two years ago and we are still unpacking boxes. I know only too well the aching back problem. Beautiful scarf and I love that little yo-yo covered elephant!!!

Oh, I hate back pain! There's an old book out called "Maggies Back Book" - the exercise that always helped me was to lay on my side with pillows used to keep the spine level. Curl into the fetal position. As your back feels better - curl tighter! Good luck!
Warm winter wishes!
doni @ Oregon coast
When the back is aching - put some hot water in a bottle and then put the bottle inside a sock. Leave it on the aching part!
Okay, 1st lie flat on the floor, bend your right leg at a 90 degree angle, then move your bent leg over your (which is straight), keeping your right hip as flat to the floor as you can, then have someone push a little on your right knee. I do several things when my back aches but my favorite is the cherry pit pillow that I heat in the microwave and then tie around my back. The heat from it on my back is wonderful!
Anything that aches feels better with those sticky patches that heat for six hours. Sleeping with those wherever you ache always helps.

This may sound weird, but it works for me! sit on the floor with your arms around your knees. Arch your back like a cat and roll backwards and back up to sitting again. Do this a few times. It helps me to straighten my spine and I get a little "massage" out of it as well!
Hi Robin, if Peanuts isn't just the cutest elephant I ever saw! A very clever and generous giveaway! My remedy for an aching back is 800 mg of ibuprofen, my electric blanket on high, and a long night's sleep. Or maybe a really good back rub.
Hope you feel better soon!

I have to had a warm bath when I get an ache back. Thanks for offering htis giveaway!
Fun Giveaway. Love the elephant. Please enter me! I am wanting to learn to quilt in 2009. I hope I can make that happen.
Oh my gosh! Little peanut is so cute! My remedy for an aching back is applying a heated rice cozy!
My remedy would be applying heat and stretching it out by lying on your back, pulling your knees toward your chest and rocking your hips from side to side.
I love your giveaway.
Hot bath & a massage from my husband.

A cure for an aching back? You mean besides drugs or alcohol, LOL? I lie down and bend one knee at a time, holding it with my hands, counting to 30. Switch back and forth. It helps to stretch those muscles.
Thank you for entering me in your generous giveaway!
Oh, my goodness, Peanut is too cute! I'd love to be entered in this giveaway. My favorite remedy for back pain is Yoga. I get such deep stretches in my back with Yoga (I find free videos online) that me back just loves me for it!
Couple of advil & a heating pad cranked on high. Hope you feel better soon!!
You need to rest your back. Use a hot pad and maybe a nice sauna wouldn't hurt. Fantastic Giveaway!
This is going to sound funny but you lay on your back on the floor with your butt up againest the couch and your legs up on the couch for 15 minutes. You may need help getting up on your feet afterwards but your back will feel better. Sandy sandybun43@gmail.com
I have my darling husband rub me good with Bio-Freeze. Soooo nice!!!
Happy new year!

I am in LOVE with this elephant. What a generous giveaway. I have a bad back as well (broke it when I was 10 and it has come back to haunt me later in life) and my only suggestion is Motrin and ice. It's the only thing that works for me.
Thanks for the giveaway. Very generous. Linda

I just love your giveaway! I wish I had a solution for a bad back. I've been suffering for 4 months and have tried it all....heat, cold, drugs, massage, physio, chiropractor. I read through all your replies looking for help. The only one left is acupuncture, which I plan to try soon. Good luck with yours. I hope it gets better soon.

Ohhh, I just made a little oblong bag filled with dry rice. It can be microwaved and stays warm for a very long time. It's just a bag in a bag type of thing and is great for aching muscles. I just love your give-away stuff. Thanks for the chance.
rice heating pad put in micro for almost 2 minutes, motrin.
cute, cute elephant! hope I win
this is so cute I say a nice heating pad or a massage from the spa
Oh, I'd so love to own Peanut!
For back ache I have to go for the prescription goodies to relax the muscles and get plenty of rest ... with a quilting magazine or two.
Hope your feeling better... I use a heating pad and lots of Tylenol.
