I got so excited seeing this post. I love elephants, how cute peanut is! I hope I win him, he would be a great addition to our home. Anyway, my husband's back was aching just the other day, and besides a good massage, it helps when I walk on his back. So, if you have a lil person around the house, maybe they can walk up and down your back, slowly and gently, or have someone knead your back with their elbows. Hope this helps like it does my dear hubby.

Cure for an aching back...my favorite cure is to heat up my warmies (as I call them) and put them against my back as I sit and knit or read.

Warmies are squares of fabric filled with uncooked rice and lavender that can be heated in the microwave or cooled in the freezer.

I love that little elephant!!! Oh, I want to win that little elephant!!!

I hate to say it but the best remedy for a sore back is ice! Advil and ice 3 times a day. I am currently having the same problem because of a little snow shoveling workout. The chiropractor broke my heart when he said no heat but that ice is good. Oh well, I'll use the heating pad at my feet while I'm freezing my back.

Oh, I love the elephant! Very cute and the scarf looks so very soft. My husband has a terrible back, we were just talking about it. His advice is stretch, stretch, and more stretching. He puts his hands on the counter and arches his back backwards as far as he can. He does this every day and hasn't been down on his back for about a year now. He has developed callouses on the heels of his hands he does it so much. But I really believe it has kept him away from a surgery. Sorry so long...back pain is the worst. Karleen rtnkt@charter.net

Robin, the little elephant is adorable. I've hurt my back a couple of times. Alternate ice packs with heat packs. The ice helps inflamation, the heat packs relax the muscles. Take an anti-inflamatory like Advil and do stretches. Lay on the floor and pull your knees to your chest one at a time while lifting your head. When standing keep your knees slightly bent to keep the pressure off the small of your back. Hope these things help though I don't know how you're going to keep up reading a kajillion messages. Back Pain - Ibuprofen or Aleve for the inflammation - does what ice does but without the mess or COLD!

I love the elephant! Only thing I know for an aching back is a hot bath - a long hot bath.

Ooooh, I love Peanut.

I do several things when my back aches but my favorite is the cherry pit pillow that I heat in the microwave and then tie around my back. The heat from it on my back is wonderful!

Anything that aches feels better with those sticky patches that heat for six hours. Sleeping with those wherever you ache always helps.

Happy 2009!

I have a very bad chronic back problem and the only thing the works for me when it is super bad is a Vicodin! Careful though because they are addicting! A nice soft bed helps too. I wish you a Blessed and Happy New Year and hope your back is better soon.

This may sound weird, but it works for me! sit on the floor with your arms around your knees. Arch your back like a cat and roll backwards and back up to sitting again. Do this a few times. It helps me to straighten my spine and I get a little "massage" out of it as well!

Hi Robin, if Peanuts isn't just the cutest elephant I ever saw! A very clever and generous giveaway! My remedy for an aching back is 800 mg of ibuprofen, my electric blanket on high, and a long night's sleep. Or maybe a really good back rub.

Hope you feel better soon!

A cure for an aching back? You mean besides drugs or alcohol, LOL? I lie down and bend one knee at a time, holding it with my hands, counting to 30. Switch back and forth. It helps to stretch those muscles.

Thank you for entering me in your generous giveaway!

This is going to sound funny but you lay on your back on the floor with your butt up againest the couch and your legs up on the couch for 15 minutes. You may need help getting up on your feet afterwards but your back will feel better. Sandy sandybun43@gmail.com
